LogisticsConnect: Project logistics meets the future

When it comes to the future of project logistics and heavy haul and breakbulk transport, all eyes are on Bremen: On 5th and 6th March, the Congress Centrum Bremen (CCB) will host the LogisticsConnect – Germany’s only congress trade fair for project logistics, breakbulk and heavy lift. The event space has been enlarged for the second edition of LogisticsConnect. So far, 66 exhibitors have registered to present their innovative products and services. ‘As a location, Bremen combines an almost unique network of specialised logistics partners, a high level of expertise and the right infrastructure for many projects. For us in the industry, it is an ideal place for the intensive exchange of ideas and opinions, that I expect from the upcoming LogisticsConnect,’ says Rüdiger Fromm from Logistics Business Partner Wind Power Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG. On the initiative of industry representatives, the ‘Industry Roundtable’ will take place for the first time this year at the CCB on the day before the congress fair – a new exchange forum for industry representatives that will be continued in the future.

In times of geopolitical upheaval and economic uncertainty, the event in Bremen brings together leading experts from the industry to analyse key challenges and discuss and highlight practical solutions.

One of the main topics of this year’s congress programme is the resilience of supply chains and critical infrastructure. Among the guests speaking on this topic is Thomas Röwekamp, Member of the German Parliament and Chairman of the German Parliament’s Defence Committee. 

In addition to expert panels and discussion rounds, the programme also provides inspiration beyond the traditional industry discourse. Among others, Lena Kemna, big wave surfer, has been invited as a speaker. In her keynote speech, the 31-year-old will discuss her experiences in extreme sports, place them in a business context and talk about resilience, mental strength, courage and decision-making skills in exceptional situations – skills that are also increasingly in demand in project logistics.

The extensive programme of lectures and workshops on the future of logistics also covers topics such as project logistics strategies for digital transformation, personnel recruitment and employer branding, market analyses and sustainability. LogisticsConnect also offers young logistics professionals the opportunity to gain a compact insight into the industry with a discounted Young Professionals Ticket.

This session will focus on current upheavals in the global economy, the growing importance of resilient infrastructure and the role of North Sea ports as global trade hubs. It will also address the question of Germany’s future role in export businesses.

Session 6: Ports and logistics in times of change

The session highlights how geopolitical changes and the current turning point in history are placing new demands on security policy, defence capabilities and logistics. The focus is on the role of critical infrastructure, in particular ports and civil logistics, in conjunction with military requirements. Experts from politics, business and the german armed forces shed light on current challenges and necessary adjustments to supply chains and transport capacities. Among other things, the discussion will focus on what partnerships between the state, industry and logistics service providers are necessary to remain capable of acting in the event of a crisis.
